Last year, I was sat in COSTA all day every day from opening time to closing.16 hour days, 16 shots of coffee a day, no sleep, no days off, no time for anything other than business. I was completely burnt out. I have never been so ill in my life. It got to the point where I couldn’t even open my eyes, it was absolutely awful. I went away for 6 months, rested, cleared my head and came back with a completely new mindset. I will never put myself in that position and get that ill again. So, even if I don’t have any spare time, I’ve learnt when enough is enough, and when it’s time to have a break and do things FOR ME! Hence I’m here now helping you guys out. I don’t want you going through what I did…
There are better routes trust me… lol
Don’t get me wrong, I still graft my a** off and have my business head on all day every day, but now I am fortunate enough to give myself a break some times and my goodness, I make the absolute most out of having time off. I cram, cram, cram all sorts of stuff in because life is for LIVING and I’m working with time that I cannot get back. Something I need to remind myself from time to time..
And sometimes, when running a business, you can get so caught up in alllll the craziness and actually forget to LIVE! What’s the point in working hard if you can’t enjoy it, you know? I was swamped.
So for all of you who are working your butt off trying to take over the world in one way or another, I’ve put together some of my favourite things to do that help me when I’m feeling stressed, foggy and overwhelmed…
ROOF TOP BARS
I liveeee for roof top bars. In Summer, if you can’t find me, I will be on a rooftop somewhere in the UK LOL. I don’t know what it is about rooftops, It just puts everything in to perspective for me and gives me a chance to sit back, clear my head and reflect on how far I have actually come. It helps me remember what matters and that buzzy feeling to press go again more inspired than ever.
BRUNCHES, LUNCHES & DINNERS
My life is so crazy all the time so I really appreciate when I get to spend time with my friends and family on weekends. Now that I have moved out, I love going out for meals with my family even more than I used to. Sometimes I don’t see my friends for months, even years, and I will bump into them in town, and arrange to go for lunch the next day and it’s completely like how it used to be. That’s true friendship gurl!!! No matter how busy your life gets, try not to get too caught up in it and ALWAYS make sure you have time for the people that matter the most.
ME TIME!
I actually really enjoy me time! Whether it’s going to the gym or just going to town shopping on my own, it gets me away from all the craziness for a bit. If no one is around, I will still go ahead with my plans. I enjoy my own company. You don’t always need to be around people you know? With my business being so forward facing, I am always on call for people, whether it’s mindset, fitness or dancing, I love being able to share my knowledge and help you all. But, sometimes it’s nice to have a little bit of space so I can do my own thing! Time to yourself is important! It took me a while to realise this, but I’m getting there just like you guys are!
Having time to unwind is VITAL (telling myself in right now loud and clear lol) and is absolutely key, especially when running a business. Time-out will help you to maintain your positive mindset and keep you endlessly motivated. Not only that, but you NEED to prioritise your health over EVERYTHING else. Health comes first, always. Not just your physical health, but more so your mental health. Trust me, I learnt that the hard way! Let me know what YOU do to help you in your spare time! Sharing is caring and I’d love to hear from you!
