Why does food always taste better in the evenings?
Is that just me that thinks this? Lol
We all get those late night cravings sometimes…but it’s time to snap out of this habit asap rockyyy.
Im a proper night owl, i’m up working till 1-2am every morning, and I find is super hard to resist grabbing a snack before I sleep…trust me, I understand how hard it is, but it’s time to stop this people!
I’m not going to bore you with all the scientific nonsense for too long but basically, our body typically prepares itself to go into sleep mode once it hits a certain hour in the evening, which means it’s not burning as many calories we’ve consumed for energy. So when that happens, pounds can easily sneak up on you here and there, and you will wonder why you are struggling to lose weight!
The other problem is, when we do eat late a night, it’s more than likely that we will eat the WRONG things. Most likely you’re trying to find something quick to make because it’s too late to cook a healthy meal, or only fast food options are available because of the late hour. Stay away from the McDonalds! Awfullll stuff.
If you struggle with this habit as much as I do, here are some suggestions to help you stop this late night snacking!
GO TO SLEEP EARLIER
You will LITERALLY not be eating your asleep lol. This doesn’t mean forcing yourself to change your bedtime from
If you’re struggling with falling asleep earlier (like me!!), perhaps put your phone on “do not disturb” mode so notifications don’t keep you up, or even turn it off. I am SO GUILTY of this, I always end up working on my phone in bed, so I need to do this to lol.
EAT SOMETHING FILLING!
Have you ever found yourself wanting to eat again 30 minutes after you just ate? It happens to me a lot haha. If you find yourself eating a lot and still feeling hungry afterwards, consider increasing the amount of protein that you are eating.
CLEAR UP THE KITCHEN!
Start making it a habit that when dinner is done, wash up straight away and put all of the food away so you can’t see it! It’s more tempting to eat something when it’s in our line of sight. It’s even more tempting to want to eat when we’re sprawled out on the sofa on our phones. We snack out of habit most of the time or because we are bored, so just make sure everything is cleaned up and put away before leaving the kitchen. Try not to let that packet of Oreos on the side tempt you…
I just wanna get this straight though..DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP if you have a late night snack once in a while, we are all human at the end of the day! Just try your best not to get in the bad habit and your all good.
We should never starve ourselves to be “healthy”. However, it is always important to be mindful of what we’re nourishing our bodies with.
